Research into the Longitudinal Child Digital Health Record

The combined Collaborative initiatives will help to build a longitudinal child digital health record. If the pilots are successful and are rolled out nationally, the data they collect will feed into a national repository of child health data, creating a 'life time' view of a child's health and wellbeing.

Creating a national repository of health information will support critical research into the developmental, health and wellbeing needs of children and young people across Australia. This will help to ensure that policies and programs aimed at improving health outcomes for children and young people are evidence-based and informed by robust health research and data systems.

This will be a valuable national asset that, following all required legalisation, policy and privacy protocols, could help researchers and policy makers better understand children’s health and wellbeing needs.

The Collaborative is committed to co-designing systems that help improve both the quality of, and access to, children and young person’s health data for the research community.
